Hon. James Abiodun Faleke in his acceptance speech after he was declared winner of the All Progressives Congress Ikeja Federal Constituency House of Representatives ticket on Thursday at the Ikeja Local Government Council venue of the collation, expressed his gratitude to God. “I thank God for the opportunity given to me to be part of this event; to be recognised and elected once again to represent the Ikeja Federal Constituency”.
“I thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, this is his local government so I am representing him, I will never never disappoint him. I also want to thank all the members of the Ikeja Federal Constituency and also to assure them of better and better representation. I am not going to take this for granted, this is a great opportunity given to me”.
“For the first time, Ikeja Federal Constituency is having a representative for the 3rd term running. To God be the glory, I will not disappoint them” he pledged.
On the wide margin between himself and Mrs Toke Benson (26, 398 – 25 votes), he noted that; “this is in response to her performances in the past. No doubt I am loved and accepted by the people across the 10 wards. I want to say thank you to the people once again”.
“We were only 3 who indicated interest for this position and we had talk with Mr Yinka Jeje last night and he stepped-down for me and worked together for this success. For Mrs. Toke Benson, I brought her up to this level and we will bring her back again and try to deradicalise her. Politics is about the people; it’s not about yourself but about the people. If you want to represent the people you have to come down to respect the people. For the first time in our aspiration in Ikeja Federal Constituency, we saw an aspirant bringing thugs and guns into her ward. This is uncalled for and so we will try to deradicalise her and move her forward in the line of the progressives”. In his final word Faleke thanked the people of Ikeja and promised not to disappoint them.
The Returning Officer for the APC primaries in Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Omisore affirmed that he couldn’t enter the Ogba-Oluwole Ward F election venue after he received a distress call from the electoral officer who was dispatched there for the purpose of the party primaries.
Omisore summed-up results from other 9 wards and declared Hon James Abiodun Faleke winner of the APC Ikeja Federal Constituency House of Representatives ticket after he polled 26,398 votes while Mrs Barr. Toke Benson polled just 25 votes from the 26,423 accredited.
