Federal House of Representatives member, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke on Tuesday empowered members of his Ikeja Federal Constituency with different items which included cars, sewing machines, grinding machines, deep freezers, vulcanizing machines, barber kits, and free medical tests for hepatitis, eye checkup and provisions of glasses, malaria treatment and provision of mosquitoes nets and HIV screening.

The well attended empowerment programme and free medical outreach was held inside the Nigerian Institute for Journalism premises, Ogba, Ikeja. The Chairman of the event, Hon. Babatunde Balogun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Lagos State Chapter, urged the beneficiaries to make best use of the equipment to improve on their vocations and also expressed gratitude to Hon. James Faleke for giving back to the party and members of his constituency.

Balogun stated that “Faleke has been representing the party well since his days as council chairman till date as member of the National Assembly representing Ikeja Federal Constituency. Faleke is a good representative of the party and of Ikeja”, the party chairman summed-up.

The APC National Women Leader, Southwest, Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson thanked Hon. Faleke for the empowerment to party faithful and noted that Faleke had started well hoping he will surely continue well. She said “Congratulations Faleke, you started well and you’ll surely continue well by the special grace of God. It’s only God that enthroned one to position and not a man” she emphasized. The amiable women Leader used the occasion to thank party faithful who thronged  her office and home in solidarity against a recent attack on her office by some hired hoodlums. She appealed to members to embrace peace and noted that Ikeja being Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s local government, should always be a good example for other local governments to emulate.

Chief Funso Ologunde Vice Chairman APC Lagos West stated that, ” Faleke is an achiever who has continuously impressed both leadership and members of our party.

A former Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Mayor Alani Okikioposu also expressed his gratitude for the empowerment of party faithful who cut across the 18 wards of the Ikeja Federal Constituency.

Another party chieftain who spoke with our reporter Dr. Adesola Taiwo said, “Faleke has done wonderfully well, he is not the only representative in Nigeria; what he has done today will go a long way to help the suffering masses” he concluded.

Cardinal James Odunmbaku “the turnout here today from Ikeja, Onigbongbo and Ojodu is an indication of the support Faleke enjoys across the 3 local government that makeup the Ikeja Federal constituency and we all appreciate his good service”.

The former Deputy Chairman APC Cardinal James Odunmbaku also corroborated others; “the turnout here today from Ikeja, Onigbongbo and Ojodu is an indication of the support Faleke enjoys across the 3 local government that makeup the Ikeja Federal constituency and we all appreciate his good service”.

Hon Faleke in his address expressed gratitude for the support given to him by the party most especially Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and entire leadership and members of the party. He said the idea of the empowerment was to bring succor to the people by giving them tools and equipment. He said “We are giving out 18 cars today, 1 per ward to generate funds to support the welfare of party members in the respective wards of the 18 that makeup the Ikeja Federal constituency. 6 other cars will be given to 6 notable leaders to motivate people around them to be committed. He promised to publish his scorecard soon but used the occasion to enumerate some of his achievements which include facilitated employments for over 40 unemployed within Ikeja Federal Constituency into State, Federal agencies, boards and parastatals. Faleke has also sponsored several interested persons for vocational training and also paying tuition fees of some undergraduates. Other achievements include facilitated provision of 5 solar powered boreholes, 5 solar powered streetlights, 6 transformers, construction of 3 blocks of classrooms in Ogba primary school, Onilekere Junior secondary school.

Some notable bills and motion moved by Hon James Faleke include NYSC amendment act to provide life insurance coverage for NYSC members. University of Lagos act, Eastern development commission, National broadcasting commission act, Chartered Institute of Auctioneers of Nigeria bill, Western development commission bill, the reconstruction of Lagos/Ibadan express way and a host of other.

The event was also graced with the presence of other dignitaries within APC, Ikeja Federal Constituency, royal and spiritual fathers within the constituency.

In order to continue to serve his people better, Hon. Faleke said he is committed to tenets of democracy and is always ready to provide them with the dividends of democracy through the engagement of human and community development, hence he is seeking re-election.
