On Tuesday the Executive Chairman Ojodu Local Council Development Area Engr. Julius Olumuyiwa Oloro in continuation of his 500 days in office commissioned the newly rehabilitated Oluremi Tinubu Vocational Center and The Ultramodern ICT Center among other activities to also commemorate the council’s boss birthday.

Yours sincerely engaged Engr. Oloro in a thought-provoking interview on FACING FACTS the Lagos Panorama interview column.

Please enjoy excerpts from the interview:

Lagos Panorama: Good afternoon, for the benefit of our readers please introduce yourself?

Hon Julius Oloro: My name is Engr. Julius Olumuyiwa Oloro the Executive Chairman Ojodu LCDA.

Congratulations for today being your birthday and for about a week now you’ve commenced weeklong activities to mark your 500 days in office. Can you please give an insight to the programme of events?

Hon Julius Oloro: On Wednesday last week we kick started the programme with a quiz competition for both public and private schools within Ojodu LCDA for primary, junior and senior secondary school pupils.

On Thursday we visited orphanage homes in our local government by aligning with the vulnerable people, the special people, we gave them gifts and food items. Same Thursday we visited some ongoing projects to ensure they have reached the expected level of completion and to know what other things that are still needed to be done.

On Friday we went to give praises to Allah by attending jumat at Oke-Ira central mosque.

Under our Public/Private Participation Scheme we partnered with a non-governmental organization that helped with the construction of a 12 room block of classrooms for us in Ogba Oluwole primary school. We narrated some of our challenges to them and they opted to build the 12 room block of classrooms equipped with furniture and other facilities. We also complemented this with free distribution of exercise books to all our pupils in Ojodu LCDA. Distribution of Baton of Life to Junior Secondary schools and Weekly Assessment Book. We also distributed first-aid boxes and other items to our schools. That was on Monday.

vocational training center and ultramodern ICT center. We had a training center but we have to add other departments like ICT center, computer and phone repair centers.

We are also giving out 7 wheel chairs to less privileged handicaps courtesy of another non-governmental organization.

Tomorrow we shall be giving cash and food items to the elderly and widows within our local council. We will also have free medical check-up and provision of drugs.

On Sunday we will be having thanksgiving service at Christ Glorious Hope Assembly before we now round it up on Monday.

councillors, management staff to aid their work and output. Only my car is still pending (laugh).

That is obviously a sign of selfless leadership (laugh). You earlier mentioned visiting some ongoing projects can you please mention some of them?

Hon Julius Oloro: They are all listed in our programme but let me mention some of them; we have constructions going on in Anipupo in Oke-Ira, Celestial avenue, Onile Ariyo both also in Oke-Ira. We have completed construction Osibajo in Agidingbi. Akiode Primary Health Center is ongoing. Then in Erinosho we have provided  walk-way and electrified it. We ought to commission it today but hopefully tomorrow because of today’s tight programme. So that one and several others are completed already.

I was fortunate to witness the ground breaking ceremony of the Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji Ultramodern market. To my surprise it’s near completion within a short time what propelled this development?

Hon Julius Oloro: It’s another milestone in the history of local government administration. It has never happen that a local government will build such an edifice so I am looking forward to the day of commissioning which I believe our distinguished leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the one to do the commissioning. Although I have not informed him but I am sure he wouldn’t turn down the gesture. By then I am sure he will come with our new governor Babajide Sanwo Olu as we have fixed the commissioning to be after May 29.
