Nurudeen Basheer unites constituents with education, health and sports

The Councillor representing Alausa, Police Barrack and Alade zones of the Ikeja Ward F in the Ikeja Legislative Council Hon Nurudeen Basheer of the All Progressives Congress on Sunday played host to Quiz Competition, Heath mission and sports activities for residents of his constituent at the Makinde street, Alausa, Ikeja.

The three-in-one event witnessed large turnout from the 3 zones that make up the Alausa ward and other well-wishers across the Ikeja Federal Constituency.

The event Chairman former Leader Ikeja Legislative council Hon Lolade Shonibare in his keynote address noted that education is the bedrock of any society so much care and responsibility must be invested in education.

Shonibare noted that “this is a laudable programme as it engages our youths positively through sports and other recreational activities”.

“Sports is about youth development and means of creating wealth. I believe government and corporate organizations should invest in grassroots sports as this is the only means of identifying budding talents from the grassroots and if well tutored they become world champion”.

The former Ikeja lawmaker also stated that “today’s quiz competition will help boost the morale of the participants and encourages those who are not taking their education seriously to now have a rethink and take their education more seriously when they see that today’s winners are rewarded’.

On the health mission included the event by the Ward F Councillor Shonibare also averred that “health is wealth. This is in line with the Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu’s Care health Outreach. This will in no doubt complement the efforts of the state and local governments” concluded the eloquent All Progressives Congress chieftain.

Hon Basheer while speaking with Lagos Panorama at the end of the event stated that “I want to take the annual event to another level by making sure my people feel my presence more as the representative of their constituency and councillor of the Ward. I have to give to every sector sense of belonging through health, education and sports.

“Initially in 2018 we did only education when we distributed exercise books to every pupils in the ward. This time we are taking it a bit further by giving them all sense of belonging”.

“Our mothers, fathers, the aged were taken care of with the health mission while the youths were been taken care of with sports and also our children who are leaders of tomorrow were also taken care of in the area of education”.

“In the area of sports we want to bring about unity among the youths, the elders, among the children we want to bring unity among all our people and that is what we have achieved today”.

“I believe anywhere you have unity it’s difficult for you to see fight or rancour. As you can see for yourself all our people both from Alausa zone, Alade and Barrack zones are very happy with today’s event. I pray by the grace of God that there should not be financial crunch next year so we can take it a step further.

“Last year Lagos Panorama asked if I hope to sustain what I did last year and I said yes. This year’s edition has been taking to another level and I pray next year’s edition will be taking to another level God’s grace” concluded the amiable Councillor.

The Chairman APC Ikeja Chapter Alhaji Dally Adeokun in his remark commended Hon Basheer for his unique ideas in reaching out to members of his constituents and urged the councillor to continue in his good representation of Ward F. He also nick named him as “Kosele Ri” to personified the unique ideas of the young amiable councillor.

Leader of the Ward F and APC Ikeja chieftain former Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Mayor Alani Okikioposu also conducted what could be described as a Vote of Confidence election where he asked the ward members if Hon Basheer should have a second term to serve the ward and they all unanimously agreed that Hon Nurudeen Basheer should have a second term.

Fatimo Adebari won the quiz competition. Ganiyat Jubril won the female boxer competition while Olorunwa Amusa won the male category.

Babatunde Falola clinched the table-tennis top spot. Lekan Odutuga won the Ludo competition and Aro Razak won the opon-ayo competition. Richard Okon won the draft competition.

Alausa Team defeated Alade team in the final of the 5-Aside football competition.
