A Member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu has described the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as the President of Nigeria’s Senate and Speaker of House of Representatives respectively as a watershed in Nigeria’s march towards the promised land.

The duo of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila of the ruling APC were elected Tuesday June 11th to lead the 9th National Assembly after a rigorous campaign.

Lawan defeated his closest rival and fellow partyman, Sen. Ndume with 79 votes to 26 while Gbajabiamila defeated co-contestant, Hon. Bago with 283 votes to 76 to clinch the Speakership.

In an interactive session with members of the Press during Senator. Adeola Solomon’s Inauguration Dinner in Abuja on Tuesday night, Hon. Kasunmu congratulated Distinguished Sen. Lawan and Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila on their historic election to the leadership of National Assembly and prayed for their success on the job.

Speaking further, the Lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 described the duo’s victory as a key milestone in Nigeria’s journey to greatness, revealing that the emergence of the two leaders has given a stronger definition to the concept of Party supremacy.

While Congratulating the people of Lagos State for producing the House of Representatives Speaker for the first time, Hon. Kasunmu also felicitated with all Party Leaders across broad for achieving 100 percent success in the National Assembly leadership elections.

Popularly called Hon. ARK, Kasunmu also commended key party personalities such as the National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Party National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Southwest Woman Leader of the Party, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Nelson and several others who played crucial roles in the success of the party at the NASS Leadership elections.

Commenting further on the NASS elections, Hon. ARK gave kudos to the Representative of Ikeja Federal Constituency in the lower chamber, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for his relentless efforts as the arrowhead of the Gbajabiamila For Speaker Campaign, saying Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila’s victory has vindicated Hon. Faleke not only as a visionary party leader but also as an apostle of good leadership and “democracy for the wellbeing of the people.”

Hon. Kasunmu also showed praises on Senator Adeola Solomon, a.k.a Yayi (Lagos West) for his sterling performances in the upper chamber and for the success of the party during the NASS election.

He expresses optimism that Nigerians will enjoy better dividends of democracy in this new dispensation.
