Latin emerges President as TAMPAN elects new executives

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the Yoruba genre thespians for another 4 years.

The TAMPAN election took place during the second National Conference and election of the Executives on Friday at the Glory-View Hotel, Bodija-Ibadan, Oyo state.

Bolaji Amusan commonly known as Mr. Latin emerged President after he polled 85 votes in an unopposed contest of the newly formed TAMPAN. The association is a breakaway faction of the crisis-ridden Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) which is largely made up of actors and actresses in the Yoruba movie industry.

Amusan in his acceptance speech stated that “I Otunba Bolaji Amusan aka Mr Latin, the newly elected national president of TAMPAN ( Nigeria & Overseas) on behalf of myself and the newly elected national officers hereby appreciates the magnanimity of all state delegates to choose those that they believe can lead the association to the next level in 4 years.

Mr. Latin also expressed his gratitude to the pioneer executives, “Our special regards goes to the first elected national president of TAMPAN Prince Bamidele Odule and his executives for coordinating the affairs of the association without any aggravated disputes for 4 years and overseeing a smooth transition today 14th of December 2018” the comedian thespian noted.

“Let me assuage all members that this new administration believes very much in continuity, so therefore Vision behind TAMPAN and the structures already put in place would not be jettison nor abandoned. So to this end after serious scrutiny and consultations this administration has agreed to create the office of Chief of Staff to the president. He will be in the touch light capacity and an honorary member at the state and national executive council and this will be embedded into the association constitution soonest” he concluded.

The new President appointed the immediate past national general secretary of the association Otunba Mudasiru Ayobami Olabiyi as his chief of staff. The appointment takes immediate effect.

Amusan in a chat with our correspondent promised to discharge his duties accordingly as constitution stipulates and promised not disappoint members of the association.
