The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on SDGs and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond has reaffirmed the determination of the State Government to strengthen efforts towards achieving the Global Development Agenda.

The disclosure was made during a strategic meeting with the management and staff of the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment, now re-christened SDGs and Investment.

Hammond reiterated the resolve of the Governor to laying a solid foundation for actualising the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by countries in 2015, noting that all hands must be on deck towards meeting the global Agenda.

“Sustainable Development Goals are Global Agenda adopted by countries in 2015 with a vision of ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring that all people enjoyed peace and prosperity. The seventeen goals address global challenges that can be universally tackled”, she affirmed.

The Special Adviser stated further that combining SDGs with Investments is a deliberate attempt to attract investments that are capable of achieving global development goals as well as impacting positively on the lives of Lagosians.

She emphasised the importance of collaboration with other Ministries and Agencies of government towards achieving these goals, noting that everyone who shares the SDGs’ aspiration is a partner.

“No one is an Island, so there is little or nothing we can achieve without collaborating with other MDAs who have been gradually implementing these Goals, individually or collectively before we came on board”, she stated.

Hammond explained that the aim is basically to bequeath a greater and more prosperous State to our generation and generations yet unborn as every entity of the State must work together to achieve these common goals.

The Special Adviser, therefore, sought the cooperation of all members of staff towards actualising the new mandate of the office in line with the THEMES Agenda of the present administration.
