Lagos blessed with dedicated men and women as Chief Executives – President, ALARHOSPS

Governor Sanwo-Olu commends past head of Service and permanent secretaries

Lagos State Government had been adjudged to be blessed with dedicated men and women as chief executives, which had contributed significantly to the unprecedented development recorded in the state since inception over 50 years ago.

This was contained in the welcome address delivered by the President, Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries(ALARHOSPS), Alhaji Muhammed Ajibola Olagbaye, at the 6th Submit & public presentation of “5 Decades of Excellent Public Service in Lagos State: 1967 – 2017″.

The theme of the event: Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy; Transportation, security and ICT is key.

Olagbaye maintained that there is no doubt that the civil service is the engine room of government but pointed out that there is no doubt that Lagos State is blessed with dedicated men and women as Chief Executives in form of Administrators, Governors and their retinue of political office holders as commissioners and heads of extra-ministerial departments and agencies.

He said the 6th Summit has been consciously and specially designed to take into consideration the policy thrust of the Sanwo-Olu administered administration as outlined in his 6-Pillar THEMES Agenda.

” Undoubtedly, the Civil Service is the engine room of government. And to the glory of God, the state has been so blessed with dedicated men and women as Chief executives, be it administrators, governors(Military/Civilian) and their retinue of political office holders as commissioners and heads of extra-ministerial departments and agencies”, Olagbaye said.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu also in his remark commended the association for availing the state the benefits of tapping from their wealth of knowledge and experience in public service.

He said Lagos State Public Service has a reputation of being the most progressive public service in Nigeria, just as he charged them not to relent in their effort at making the state a smart city especially by working in tandem with the present administration’s THEMES agenda.

“There is no gainsaying that the public service contributed immensely to the success that Lagos State has achieved over the years. Public Service translates government policies, laws and social services into daily work that keeps democracy going”, Sanwo-Olu said

He thanked all the past head of service and permanent secretaries for availing the state the benefits of their wealth of knowledge and experience.

” Let me use this opportunity to thank the ALARHOSPS for availing us the the benefits of your wealth of knowledge and experience in public service”, he said

Also in his remark, the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said Lagos State has continued to be the foremost state in the federation in terms of growth and development, adding that without fear of contradiction,the feat was made possible through a forum like the ALARHOSPS.

He stressed that the state was creating friendly atmosphere for investment to thrive and has embarked on reforms in its business law to protect all parties when disputes arise in business to the extent that Lagos State was adjudged by the World Bank as one of the most improved states in terms of ease of doing business.

He thereby urged the Association to focus on the THEMES agenda of the present administration and joined in activating the elaborate plan of implementable programmes that will take the state to shared vision of delivering more habitable city and a smarter Lagos
