The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, has urged Lagos residents at home and workplaces to strictly maintain precautionary measures as directed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to halt the spread of coronavirus.
The move is to safeguard the health and safety of all the residents in Lagos State following the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Mojola, in a statement on Thursday, said letters had been sent to various workplaces, financial organizations and manufacturing companies across the State to sensitise and ensure workers in their employ maintain safety precautions to combat and overcome the pandemic.
According to him, “it has become imperative to inform organizations across the state to ensure that additional measures are put in place in line with the directives of the Lagos State Governor to limit the transmission of the virus.
Mojola further maintained that the highlight of the guidelines to keep safe included encouraging non- essential employees (marketers, contract staff e.t.c) to work from home for now.
Others, according to him, is to enforce the restriction on the gathering of not more than 25 people as the virus spreads rapidly in enclosed spaces as well encourage the use of alternative channels of banking to limit the number of customers across various branches of banks.
He also encouraged all to be informed on the basic precautionary methods and hygienic practices, which included keeping social distance, avoiding large gatherings and close contact with sick persons, regular hand washing with soap and use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
“Staff with coughs and fever should be advised to isolate self at home and ensure clean and disinfects objects and surfaces (counters) touched regularly. Let me also advise that vulnerable or elderly employees with underlying challenges should be advised to stay at home”, Mojola said.
He also encouraged social distances of at least 2 meters from next person(s), just as he urged strict compliance to these directives.
“Failure to adhere to do so will attract sanctions that may include sealing of company or companies that act contrarily to the directives,” Mojola said
