Coronavirus: Lagos FA suspends all football activities for initial 2 weeks

The Lagos State Football Association on Sunday issued a press release sent to Lagos Panorama signed the the FA Secretary Akeem Rabiu Okikioposu to officially suspend all football activities starting from Monday.

The FA stated in the release that in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, and in line with our earlier suspension of football activities in the State as well as adherence to the directives of the Lagos State Government directed to GL 1-12 Staff of the State Civil Service who represent 70% of the total workforce, to stay at home from Monday 23rd March 2020 for an initial period of 2weeks the Chairman and Board of Lagos State Football Association hereby notify our affiliates and all stakeholders that we will be suspending operations from Monday 23rd March 2020 for an initial period of two weeks.

We would like to advise all to adhere to the State Government directives on hygiene and other precautions towards keeping a safe environment.

We hope for better days or weeks ahead as we join the State Government to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Lagos Panorama had reported on Thursday that following the directives of the Nigeria Football Federation on the suspension of all forms of football competitions in Nigeria for the next 30days as a precautionary concern for COVID 19 pandemic, the board of the LAGOS STATE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION has complied with the latest development.
